Requirements for tour operators

In order to be certified by TourCert tour operators must meet the following minimum criteria: 

1. Naming a person who is responsible for the CSR-system (CSR-representative)
2. Publishing a mission statement
3. Programme for improvment (must be updated yearly)
4. Signing the Code of conduct against sexual exploitation of children
5. Implementation of a supplier code of conduct on sustainability standards with suppliers
6. regular training of staff on sustainable tourism
7. green electricity
8. Compensation of at least 50% of emissions from business travel
9. active promotion for sustainable travelling with customers

For the performance-oriented core indicators minimum values have been defined.
 

10 core indicators for tour operators:

  • Business success: Cash flow in relation to total turnover
  • CO2 emissions per guest per day
  • Percentage of the price paid by the customer that goes to the destination
  • Business ecology: CO2 emissions generated in the company per employee
  • Quality of customer information
  • Index of customer satisfaction (including response rate)
  • Business culture: Index of staff satisfaction
  • Sustainability index partner agencies
  • Sustainability index accommodation
  • Sustainability index tourist guides
