TourCert Awarded for Transparency and Credibility

Share

The TourCert labels for tour operators, accommodation and other tourism enterprises were able to score high in a study by VERBRAUCHER INITIATIVE e.V. and ZENAT.

In an academic study of certification agencies in sustainable tourism, our label for tour operators ranked no. 1, the certification of accommodation no. 2, and of other tourism enterprises no. 5. With regard to transparency, credibility, and consideration of all business processes and the entire value chain, our TourCert certification performed extremely well.

The independent VERBRAUCHER INITIATIVE e.V. and ZENAT (Centre for Sustainable Tourism at the University of Applied Sciences, Eberswalde), conduct in-depth analyses to support consumers in finding their ways through the jungle of certification systems and labels.
A total of 36 international certification systems were examined which are operational in Germany and relate to accommodation, tour operators and specialised service providers (e.g. canoe rentals, marinas). Apart from the questionnaires filled in by the organisations, the study also evaluated information which is publicly available on the internet.

Eine Wanderin steht auf einem Felsen, streckt die Arme nach oben und schaut in das Tal vor ihr.

„With an average of just 40 percent of the criteria fulfilled, the relatively low requirements with regard to contents are the main weakness of most certification systems in German tourism. Just two certificates reach more than 75 percent“.

Study by VERBRAUCHER INITIATIVE e.V. and ZENAT

TourCert offers specific certification processes for different sectors in tourism. Three of our certifications – for tour operators, accommodation and other tourism enterprises – are among the first in the analysis and offer a proven high degree of transparency, content requirements, and credibility.

The complete study with detailed information is available here.
