Anniversary & certification ceremony on 6th March 2019 and Pow-Wow presentations on current topics
The leading international tourism fair is already casting its shadow. From 6th to 10th March 2019, the whole world of the travel industry will meet again in Berlin. And of course TourCert will also be there. As in previous years, we have a stand (No. 225) in Hall 4.1, which is dedicated to adventure travel and social responsibility, and are actively participating in the program.
Also this time there is every reason to celebrate. Last year we were able to welcome around 90 new members to the TourCert Community, around a quarter of them in Europe, many in Latin America – and half of them in Costa Rica. There we certified two entire destinations as sustainable destinations and many of the partner companies opted for the TourCert Check at the same time. We are delighted about the great popularity and achievements of last year.
We are also celebrating 10 years of TourCert! In 2009 TourCert was founded as GbR and arose out of the project existence of the organisation kate Umwelt & Entwicklung. Together with the strong partners Tourism Watch, Naturefriends International and the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde, the now internationally recognized management and certification system was born. This will also be the theme of our evening event at the ITB.
Please note the following dates in your trade fair calendar:
Wednesday, 6th March 2019, 17.00 – 18.00, Main stage, Hall 4.1: 10 years of commitment to sustainable tourism – Anniversary and certification ceremony
TourCert has been promoting responsible travel since 2009. The event presents and celebrates its development and its actors, including a poetry presentation. The evening will be moderated by Nadine Kreutzer, journalist & radio presenter, opened by Marco Giraldo, managing partner of TourCert. On stage we look forward to the founders of TourCert, Günter Koschwitz & Angela Giraldo, as well as the lyric artist Jessy James LaFleur.
After the official part we invite all guests to a get-together with finger food and drinks. We look forward to seeing you again and getting to know you personally with all like-minded people, partners and friends.
Wednesday, 6th March 2019, 13.30 – 14.00, Pow-Wow-stage, Hall 4.1: Scenic paths on the way to sustainability – dive into the traditional world of the Andean people
Whether the Inca Trail to the world-famous historical cult site of Machu Picchu, the holy mountain Apu Ausangate or other paths in Peru, sustainability plays an important role in the conservation and protection of flora and fauna, geological formations, archaeological remains and the beauty of the landscape. Also the local communities with ancient culture and traditions are of great importance for the development of these great places.
Immerse yourself into the traditional world of the Andean people and get to know these natural and cultural landscapes. Marco Giraldo, managing partner of TourCert, and the members of the TourCert Community Andean Lodges and Latventure will give you an insight.
Thursday, 7th March 2019, 11.00 – 11.30, Pow Wow stage, Hall 4.1: Authentic travel experiences through community-based tourism
The presentation focuses on sensitizing the audience to the topic of community-based tourism. It gives an overview of what exactly community-based tourism is and how it can clearly differ from other tourism offers, especially through the sustainability certification of TourCert.
The discussion will show the added value for communities and partners of the travel industry using examples in Ecuador, such as the community of Yunguilla. The VSocial Foundation and TourCert want to motivate the travel industry to work with them to support communities on their way to sustainable tourism.
Please feel free to contact us for personal discussions at the fair. We are looking forward to eventful days in Berlin!
